1981
The year in which the band is founded, records an album and tours the US and Europe.

From August/September 1980 Lydia Lunch resides in Topanga Canyon (The Snake Pit area), Los Angeles. Later Lydia moves to a house in the Venice area of Los Angeles where she stays until February 1982.

She forms this band with Johnny Nations and ex- Weirdos Greg Williams and Cliff Martinez [later Red Hot Chili Peppers] who had just split up.

Note: Club 57 (the "neo-Dada cabaret" located in the basement of the Holy Cross Polish National Church) was in 1978 co-founded by Ann Magnuson and her collaborators (such as Eric Bogosian and Joey Arias). It was a hangout and venue for performance- and visual-artists and musicians, including Keith Haring, John Sex, Wendy Wild, David McDermott, etc..

Note: At the 2nd show the New York City Fire department came in and said there would be no show. About half the people left. The show went on after all.


November 1981
US NY,New York City,JFK Airport,Lydia sacks her band on the moment they're about to leave for the European tour. She asks Kristian Hoffman [The Mumps/Swinging Madisons] to join and once in London enlists Steven Severin and Murray Mitchell [respectively guitar with and roadie for Siouxsie and the Banshees] who she met before in London in July 1978 and again on their joint US October/November '81 tour.

UK London,a studio,Lydia Lunch records with Steven Severin the backing tracks for "The Agony Is The Extacy" performance. They play over an LP record with sound recordings from the Arab-Israel Six-day war (June 1967).

Start of the "The Agony Is The Ecstacy" tour. Some dates in Europe. In Sweden they do such a horrible and embarrasing performance that Lydia has to go and hide for some time in the bathrooms.
