By Autumn/Fall 1984 The Gun Club had taken up residency in London, where they broke up. Then it seemed like it was for good. Jeffrey Lee and his girlfriend Romi Mori (from Japan. a.k.a. Hiromi Otani as she was then named) take some holidays in Egypt before returning to London.

January 1985. Jeff recruits session players John McKenzie [The Explorers with Phil Manzanera & Andy Mackay from Roxy Music in 1984], Andy (Clifford Leon) Anderson [The Cure 1983-1984, Brilliant 1985] and Murray Mitchell [Siouxsie and Gun Club roadie] to form the Jeffrey Lee Pierce Quartet band.

UK London,Jeff enlists Derek Thompson [SPK, The Cure in 1983] on guitar for his live band. Derek was suggested by Raf Edmonds who was helping to recruit the live band (Raf had worked with Iggy, Alice Cooper, Buzzcocks) and he knew Derek from having played bass with Pete Shelley [Buzzcocks] on his solo work (studio and live). The full band rehearsed for about a week at a studio in London, just before the tour.

March/August 1986
JP Jeff and Romi move to Tokyo, doing promo and taking a holiday. Romi hadn't been in her home country for 3 years. They also stay Sagamihara City and Nishi-Koyama. "There in Nishi-Koyama, I wrote a song about that [dream] called "Bill Bailey". It was really about Nick [Cave]. We were really close friends by then and remained so for many years. Also in Nishi-Koyama, I wrote the music for "Lupeta Screams". [...] When Romi made plans for our return to London, I had a whole new LP written". Jeffrey from his "Go Tell The Mountain" book (2.13.61/Creeping Ritual).

On 14-May-86, Jeffrey is interviewed @ Toshiba EMI studios by Steve Harris, talking about recording a new album in London during July. The actual recording of "Mother Juno" would take place exactly one year later in Berlin.

By August 1986 jeff and Romi move back to Kensington,London. In September Kid Congo Powers joins the Bad Seeds and moves from London to Berlin for 3 years.

UK Barford St.Michael,Woodworm studio,Jeffrey Lee Pierce contributes slide guitar to "All My Secrets" a track for Jeremy Gluck's [ex-Barracudas] "I Knew Buffalo Bill" album. Also guesting on these recordings are Nikki Sudden, Rowland S. Howard and Epic Soundtracks. It's possible that Jeff's contribution was recorded @ Scarf Studio,Mile End during December 1986/January 1987 when some overdubs where done and Tony Cohen [Bad Seeds] was mixing.
